Kendall’s Double Bump is named after my daughter. This ride has some of our most scenic riding in Ventura and southern Santa Barbara Counties. The start rolls east along the Santa Clara River Valley towards Santa Paula and onto South Mountain Rd. to Fillmore. From Fillmore, the return to Santa Paula is via Sycamore Rd and Hwy 126 with its broad shoulders. Climbing begins at about mile 32 and is the start of our local double bump, Dennison Grade and Casitas Pass, which essentially follows Hwy 150 to Carpinteria via Ojai. It continues to Santa Barbara via Hwy 192 over Toro Canyon and East Mountain Dr. From downtown Santa Barbara, the route follows the traditional return route on Cabrillo Blvd., past the Santa Barbara Cemetery, over the Ortega Ridge bikepath, thru Carpinteria and down the 101 Fwy to Ventura. The total elevation gain is about 6200 feet. The bulk of the climbing occurs between miles 32 and 85. Though not an ACP ride, this brevet will does qualify for other RUSA awards, such as the R-12.
