Wrightwood 200k

It a one way shuttle ride and it’s ALL downhill! Well, except for the 3000 feet of climbing from Wrightwood to the Dawson Saddle, and the 1000 feet slowly getting from the coast back to my house. We will me at my house (21 Espalier, Foothill Ranch CA, 92610) at 6:00 AM for a shuttle to Wrightwood, CA for a 8:00 AM start. From there the route climbs 2 big climbs on highway 2 to the Dawson Saddle at 7901 feet and then downhill all the way to Seal Beach on the remote highway 39 and the San Gabriel River Trail. Except for the Duarte neighborhood spur for a control, there are only 2 street crossings in 62 miles through the heart of LA county! From there it’s a quick bit on the nice shoulder of the Pacific Coast Highway, and you can cruise on the Huntington Beach bike path to Newport Beach. After that, the route runs the Back Bay and other isolated bike paths to inland Irvine, and then on nice road with wide bike lanes back to my house in Foothill Ranch.

For those using my shuttle, please email me to reserve space. Alternatively, riders that provide their own shuttle can meet us at the Grizzly Café at 14555 Hwy 2 in Wrightwood CA 92397 for a 8:00 AM start.

IMPORTANT: Bring a light wind breaker jacket and pants for the monster decent from Dawson’s Saddle, because it’s often cold up in the mountains!
